Hi everyone, I'm new to the underempire and I was drawn to the site because I want to start a Clan Pestilens army censerbearer1.gif . But I'm not sure what units they utilise in. I know they use Plague monks, and doing some research I discovered that there is a plague lord named Lord Skrolk that makes all plague monks become core units, but I'm not sure if it's true. And also, what units do they also use?

Thanks.

Welcome to the site Queek. If all the hype is true, then this is an exciting time to become a Plague Lord and start your very own Bubonic Court. (But will it even be called such a thing anymore?)

The new book has yet to be released at this point, but when it is, rest assured, we will discuss the mechanics behind every Pestilens troops type ad nauseam. In the meantime, I would direct you this tunnel, which discusses both rumored and the verified items from the 7th edition codex.

When the book is officially out there will be more to say, of course. wink.gif

Also, I would ask you to remember that asking for or posting direct quotes, stat lines or points values, etc from any GW publication is against this site's rules. Please keep your discussions and questions appropriate. wink.gif

As for your question, is sounds as if you are asking about the Bubonic Court of Nurglitch rules from the Lustria Campaign. In that list, Nurglich was compulsory and there was no mainstay. Skrolk, unfortunately, was not included in that list, though rules do exist for his bad-self. GW had posted those rules but I don't think they have them up anymore. Does anyone have a current link?

Crud, you know if this came up two days ago I would have been able to get it for you. But I know there's someone on this site who has a link to the specific section that it's at in their sig, but I can't remember who it was or how to get to it on the archive website sad.gif

Hmmm, I wonder if the Useful Links Page has anything on the Bubonic Court and Characters like Skrolk?

Well what'd'ya know? Both of them! Mind, as a new edition of the Skaven it literally just around the corner, these rules are no longer entirely valid and so require your opponent's permission to use against them. Still, they're a different way to play!

Also, welcome to the Underempire, may your stay here be... interesting. ninja.gif

Well you could all ways make a lustria army which you could help your fellow skaven players and ram right into the other playes and kill them all laugh.gif

but the new plague furnace would be great though my army consist of censer bearers, giants rats, rat ogres an theres no need for packmasters happy.gif and my fav spell apart from the thirtenth spell is plague killing and distracting the opponenet also one of the characters in skaven rule is turn plague monks in common troops instead of speacial.

blink.gif I've been playing exclusively with a Bubonic Court that I'd forgotten PM's weren't Core. As for the new book, I am going to miss the bound Plague spell associated with the cauldron. sad.gif

@ Lughti: thanks for the links. The links I had posted before were broken. Thought that info was gone. My suggestion to anyone interested in running a BCoN or using Skrolk is to save/print those pdf's!

Im sure all special choices in a pest list will be monks or censer bearers but if your not bound to playing exclusivly in GW stores or tourneys i would highly recommend these models for your rat ogres

http://www.beyondbeyond.com/miniatures/con...bie-wolfen4.jpg

They look (IMO) soooo much better than the GW ones

Hi I'm new to the Underempire to but I think I can help you with these questions.

Yes Lord Skrolk does make Plague Monks a core choice, which is very useful for us,but he also comes with a fairly hefty price tag (rumored to be the most expensive lord choice in the new book) but for what he does with Plague Monks and his very potent magic I'd take him in 2000 point lists every time.

Other Pestilins unit choices would include Censor Bearers,Rat Swarms,Plague Furnaces and Plagueclaw catapults, but there's nothing stopping you from using all those freed up special slots to bring some heavy hitters like Rat Ogres to the field.

Yep, I can confirm that Skrolk does make plague Monks core but remember, its only the plague monks, not censer bearers.

Also Skrolk isn't THE most expensive Lord choice. Thats the Vermin Lord and Grey seers on Bells come close along with Thanquol. But then again, its only 30pts difference between Skrolk and a Vermin Lord tongue.gif

Just wrote up a pure pestilens list (including Skrolk).

2250pts
Skrolk (obviously the general)
two Priest, both on furnaces (full dispel scrolls)
3 units of 28 monks w/musician and standard, (one has plague banner)
2 units of 10 censers w/ champs
plague catapult

Conclusion? Skrolk + three plague furnaces + monks = BIG point sink. However, you should be hitting like a freight train on a mission from... umm... from The Horned One, yes-yes.

That really takes the horde right out of this clan, doesn't it?

Even in my BCoN I had 133 models in 2k. You have a mere 108 models (including the catapult) in 2.25K. Let us know how it works, and, most importantly, how your opponents feel about facing that list. (Is it still fun after a few games for them?)

Look forward to hearing reviews.

love themed armies, here's one that i've been thinking of for 7th ed clan pestilens army 2000?

4 plague priests(one with furnace)(one with pcb)

40 plague monks full command (for furnace)

25 plague monks full command

25 plague monks full command

10 pcb

___________

3 units of 20 slaves

maybe rat swarms depends on points

__________

2 plague catapults

pretty balance I think, not hugely powerful, but themed nevertheless. Don't like special characters hence the lack of skrolk?

thoughts?

You seem to be under the false impression I actually plan on FIELDING that list. For one thing, everything except ten censers would have to be proxied. Secondly, I'd much rather spam with Skryre instead of Pestilens, mostly because I like Ikit better.
